An Open Letter to Moms Struggling to Find Themselves: “You’re Not Alone”

Open Letter to Moms

“You’re not the same anymore.”

“You changed a lot.”

“What is wrong with you?”

As a mom who’s also struggling to feel like herself after giving birth, I hear you. The sudden outbursts, the forgetfulness, the constant feeling of being overwhelmed and unmotivated. It’s a struggle that’s all too real, and one that many of us face.

From the moment we become mothers, our lives are forever changed. We’re tasked with caring for another human being, and it can be a lot to handle, especially when it comes to finding time for ourselves. But know this: you are not alone. Whether you’re a first-time mom, a single mom, or a mom of many kids, we all need support and encouragement as we navigate this journey.

It’s important to remember that what you’re feeling is normal. The pressure to be the perfect mom, to have it all together, can be overwhelming. But it’s okay to not have all the answers, to feel lost and unsure at times. Give yourself permission to go through the ups and downs, to feel the emotions and not be too hard on yourself.

“Why do you keep forgetting things?”

It’s not uncommon for our minds to feel overburdened after giving birth. It’s like having too many apps open on your phone, constantly draining your mental battery. But it’s important to take care of yourself and prioritize your mental health. Speak up when you need to vent, surround yourself with supportive people, and take time for yourself, even if it’s just a few moments of peace and quiet.

“You’re doing nothing.”

It’s easy to get caught up in the never-ending list of tasks and responsibilities that come with motherhood. But it’s okay to let some things slide. Don’t beat yourself up for not being able to do it all. Focus on what’s most important: your child’s health and happiness.

So, to all the moms out there who feel like they’ve lost themselves in the midst of motherhood, know that you are not alone. This is a journey, and it’s okay to not have all the answers. Allow yourself to feel and go through the ups and downs, and don’t be too hard on yourself. We’re all in this together.
